Disruptions Threatens Poll Integrity – ELOG

By Civic Space Africa

The Election Observation Group (ELOG) has called on the law enforcement authorities and the electoral management body, the IEBC, to address the rising cases of polling day violence that threaten the integrity of elections.

In a preliminary report on the May 18th by-elections, ELOG warns that hired goons are causing despondency amongst voters and the public. The poll observation team however commended IEBC for a well conducted polling process that also adhered to the Covid-19 protocols.

In a statement signed by ELOG Chairperson Ms Anne Ireri and the National Coordinator, Mr. Mulle Musau, the body also wants political parties and aspirants to “strictly adhere to the electoral code of conduct to create an enabling environment for credible, peaceful, free and fair elections in Kenya”.
